Terms and Conditions
Last updated: June 1, 2026
Please read these Terms and Conditions ("Terms") carefully before using Move the Meter (the "Platform," "we," "us," or "our"), operated at joinmovethemeter.com. By creating an organization account, creating a campaign, adding a student page, or making a donation through the Platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Platform.
1. What Move the Meter Is
Move the Meter is a fundraising platform that allows schools, teams, and student organizations ("Organizations") to create fundraising campaigns, add individual student fundraising pages, and collect donations from supporters ("Donors"). Payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. ("Stripe") through Stripe Connect. Move the Meter is not a bank, money transmitter, or payment processor — Stripe performs that function, and use of Stripe's services is also subject to the Stripe Connected Account Agreement.
2. Eligibility and Accounts
- An Organization account may only be created by an adult (18 years or older) authorized to act on behalf of the school, team, or organization.
- The person creating an Organization account represents that they have the authority to bind that Organization to these Terms.
- Organizations are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of their login credentials and for all activity under their account.
- Move the Meter reserves the right to suspend or terminate any account that violates these Terms.
3. Student Pages and Content Involving Minors
- Organizations, not Move the Meter, are responsible for obtaining any necessary parental or guardian consent before creating a public fundraising page that includes a minor's name, photo, or personal message.
- Organizations represent that they have obtained appropriate consent from a parent or legal guardian before uploading any photo or personal information about a student under 18.
- Move the Meter reserves the right to remove any student page, photo, or content at its sole discretion, including in response to a report of unauthorized use or a parent/guardian request.
- Parents and guardians may request removal or correction of their student's page content at any time by contacting support@joinmovethemeter.com.
4. Donations
- All donations made through the Platform are voluntary and, except as required by law or as expressly stated on a specific campaign page, are non-refundable.
- Donors are responsible for determining whether a donation is tax-deductible. Move the Meter does not provide tax advice. Organizations are responsible for providing any tax receipt or acknowledgment required for donations to be claimed as tax-deductible, where applicable.
- Funds donated through a campaign are paid directly to the Organization's own connected Stripe account. Move the Meter does not hold, custody, or have access to donated funds beyond the platform fees described in Section 5.
- Donation amounts are subject to standard Stripe payment processing fees, which are deducted from the gift amount by Stripe, not by Move the Meter.
5. Fees
- Organizations pay Move the Meter a one-time setup fee per campaign and an annual renewal fee to keep an active campaign accessible, as disclosed on the Pricing page at the time of purchase.
- Move the Meter does not take a percentage of donations. Platform fees are separate from and unrelated to the amount donated by supporters.
- All fees are non-refundable except as required by law or at Move the Meter's sole discretion.
6. Organization Responsibilities
By creating a campaign, an Organization agrees to:
- Provide accurate information about the organization, its purpose, and how funds raised will be used
- Use donated funds for the stated purpose of the campaign
- Comply with all applicable laws regarding charitable solicitation, fundraising, and, where applicable, tax-exempt status representations
- Not use the Platform for any fraudulent, misleading, or illegal fundraising activity
Move the Meter does not verify that funds raised are used as represented and is not responsible for how an Organization uses donated funds.
7. Prohibited Conduct
Users may not:
- Use the Platform to raise funds for any purpose other than legitimate fundraising as represented on a campaign page
- Upload content that is false, defamatory, obscene, harassing, or that infringes another person's rights
- Attempt to access another Organization's account, donor data, or student data without authorization
- Use the Platform to collect or misuse personal information belonging to donors, students, or other users
- Interfere with or attempt to circumvent the security of the Platform
8. Intellectual Property
Organizations retain ownership of the content they upload (photos, campaign descriptions, student messages) but grant Move the Meter a limited license to display that content on the Platform for the purpose of operating the fundraising campaign. Move the Meter retains all rights to its own branding, software, and platform design.
9. Disclaimers
The Platform is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. Move the Meter does not guarantee that any campaign will meet its fundraising goal, that the Platform will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any particular payment will be processed successfully.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Move the Meter's total liability for any claim arising from use of the Platform shall not exceed the total platform fees paid by the Organization in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim. Move the Meter is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including lost donations, arising from use of the Platform.
11. Indemnification
Organizations agree to indemnify and hold Move the Meter harmless from any claim, loss, or damage arising from their use of the Platform, their campaign content, or their failure to obtain required consent for student content.
12. Termination
Move the Meter may suspend or terminate any account, campaign, or student page at any time for violation of these Terms, at its sole discretion, with or without notice.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
14. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, without regard to conflict of law principles.
